Russia was the beginning of the Tran Siberian railway trip. I still remember the feeling in the body of spending days on end on board a 3rd class train, and having jet lag for land travel. St Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan, Ekaterinburg, Tomsk, Irkutsk and at the end of the line Lake Baikal. Russians are one of the most misunderstood peoples. Their warmth and friendliness took us by surprise. They claim to have invented dulce de leche, and I think they might be right.
